in oblong 2° brown cloth albums (worn), comprising: Book 1 (labelled 'BOOK 1' on the spine) containing 278 gelatin silver prints (nos. 1-286), one red-toned, on 38 grey card album leaves; Book 2 (labelled 'BOOK 2' on the spine) containing 280 gelatin silver prints (nos. 287-564B) on 38 grey card album leaves; Book 3 (labelled 'SCOTT EXPEDITION A. ALBUM' on the front cover and 'A. NOS.' on the spine) containing 265 gelatin silver prints (nos. A1B-A243) on 23 grey card album leaves, the prints numbered in ink on the mounts, various annotations relating to reproduction rights ('NO U.S.A.', 'WORLD', 'Sold') in red biro and pencil on the mounts, several of the prints lettered

The work British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-13: Ponting's three master albums of contact prints by Herbert George Ponting was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2010. The price achieved of GBP 169,250.00 (€ 195,755.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-13: Ponting's three master albums of contact prints is the most expensive artwork by Herbert George Ponting that we have observed at auctions so far.
