Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In February 2021 Bonhams in London held the auction Travel & Exploration, which included the work Portrait of Lieutenant Henry Robertson Bowers, 1910, printed later; sold together with a postcard of the same photo (2) by Herbert George Ponting. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 956.25 (€ 1,102.85), 20% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Herbert George Ponting achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-13: Ponting's three master albums of contact prints in September 2010 with an auction result of GBP 169,250.00 (€ 195,755.59).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 956,25 (€ 1.102,85) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Herbert George Ponting erzielen.
