Auction result well in line with expectations
The work 'The Freezing Of The Sea' by Herbert George Ponting was sold in the Classic Photographs auction at Sothebys in New York in October 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,300.00 (€ 5,409.12) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Herbert George Ponting achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-13: Ponting's three master albums of contact prints in September 2010 with an auction result of GBP 169,250.00 (€ 195,755.59).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit 'The Freezing Of The Sea' von Herbert George Ponting wurde im Oktober 2020 in der Auktion Classic Photographs bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 6.300,00 (€ 5.409,12) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
