Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Herbert George Ponting could be acquired at Sothebys in London in February 2019 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Fine Art Society: 142 Years on New Bond Street auction, the work Midnight In The Antartic Summer, 1910 changed hands for GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,082.87) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Herbert George Ponting achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-13: Ponting's three master albums of contact prints in September 2010 with an auction result of GBP 169,250.00 (€ 195,755.59).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Herbert George Ponting konnte im Februar 2019 bei Sothebys in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion The Fine Art Society: 142 Years on New Bond Street wechselte die Arbeit Midnight In The Antartic Summer, 1910 für GBP 3.500,00 (€ 4.082,87) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Herbert George Ponting erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-13: Ponting's three master albums of contact prints im September 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 169.250,00 (€ 195.755,59).
