A top price for George Shaw
When the work Undergrowth by George Shaw was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2013, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 25,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 79,875.00 (€ 93,228.43). This high result makes Undergrowth the most expensive artwork by George Shaw that we have observed at auctions so far.

Als die Arbeit Undergrowth von George Shaw im Juni 2013 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 25.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 79.875,00 (€ 93.228,43) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Dieses hohe Ergebnis macht Undergrowth zu dem teuersten Kunstwerk von George Shaw, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
