Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work Untitled (sportsman II) by Erik Schmidt was auctioned at Phillips in New York in October this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 500.00 – 700.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 381.00 (€ 360.52). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Erik Schmidt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ein Langer Sommer (A Long Summer) in May 2010 with an auction result of USD 15,000.00 (€ 12,127.09).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als die Arbeit Untitled (sportsman II) von Erik Schmidt im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 500,00 – 700,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 381,00 (€ 360,52) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Erik Schmidt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Ein Langer Sommer (A Long Summer) im Mai 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 15.000,00 (€ 12.127,09).
