Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price
The work Couplet in Standard Script Calligraphy by Emperor Jiaqing was worth HKD 312,000.00 (€ 31,338.58) to a buyer in May 2006. This price was achieved in the auction The Imperial Sale at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 50,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Emperor Jiaqing; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Calligraphy In Regular Script sold at auction in April 2021 with the realized price of HKD 529,200.00 (€ 56,659.15).
