In May last year Christies in New York held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale, which included the work Sex Series (For Marion Scemama) by David Wojnarowicz. The »bidding war« ended at USD 252,000.00 (€ 234,833.66), 68% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by David Wojnarowicz have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Earth, Wind, Fire And Water in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 1,515,000.00 (€ 1,337,984.63).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 68 % übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sex Series (For Marion Scemama) von David Wojnarowicz zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 252.000,00 (€ 234.833,66) und damit 68% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von David Wojnarowicz auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Earth, Wind, Fire And Water im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.515.000,00 (€ 1.337.984,63).
