etching and drypoint, 1853, on laid paper with an unidentified watermark, the seventh state (of nine), with margins, pale light- and mat staining, a 1-in. tear and made-up areas at the lower left sheet corner (with a few associated losses), hinge and glue remains in places at the reverse of the sheet edges (slightly showing through), otherwise in good condition

In July 2008 Christies in New York held the auction Prints and Multiples, which included the work Le Pont Neuf, Paris (Delteil-Wright 33) by Charles Meryon. The »bidding war« ended at USD 1,500.00 (€ 962.22), 67% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Charles Meryon have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work La Morgue (D., W. 36; S. 42) in March 2006 with an auction result of GBP 4,560.00 (€ 6,533.66).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 67 % übertroffen
Im Juli 2008 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Prints and Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit Le Pont Neuf, Paris (Delteil-Wright 33) von Charles Meryon zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 1.500,00 (€ 962,22) und damit 67% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Meryon auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit La Morgue (D., W. 36; S. 42) im März 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.560,00 (€ 6.533,66).
