Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2013 Christies in London held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work La Morgue, Paris (Delteil & Wright 36) by Charles Meryon. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,689.53) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Meryon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work La Morgue (D., W. 36; S. 42), which sold at auction in March 2006 for GBP 4,560.00 (€ 6,533.66).
