In May 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Day Auction, which included the work Untitled (From The Pulpo Series) by Carlos Alfonzo. The »bidding war« ended at USD 163,800.00 (€ 134,328.36), 37% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carlos Alfonzo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Water Seeds, which sold at auction in May 2019 for USD 350,000.00 (€ 313,929.50).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 37 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (From The Pulpo Series) von Carlos Alfonzo zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 163.800,00 (€ 134.328,36) und damit 37% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Carlos Alfonzo mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Water Seeds beobachtet, die im Mai 2019 für USD 350.000,00 (€ 313.929,50) versteigert wurde.
