Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Contemporary Art Day Auction, which included the work Mater by Bill Viola. The price achieved of GBP 60,000.00 (€ 68,411.74) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Admittedly, works by Bill Viola have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Eternal Return in October 2006 with an auction result of GBP 377,600.00 (€ 564,168.04).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2017 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Mater von Bill Viola zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 60.000,00 (€ 68.411,74) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Bill Viola auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Eternal Return im Oktober 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 377.600,00 (€ 564.168,04).
