A top price for Bill Viola - as previously expected
The work Eternal Return by Bill Viola was auctioned at Phillips in London in October 2006. The price achieved of GBP 377,600.00 (€ 564,168.04) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 350,000.00 – 450,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Eternal Return is the most expensive artwork by Bill Viola that we have observed at auctions so far.

Die Arbeit Eternal Return von Bill Viola kam im Oktober 2006 bei Phillips in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 377.600,00 (€ 564.168,04) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 350.000,00 – 450.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Eternal Return das teuerste Kunstwerk von Bill Viola, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
