Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2019 Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session, which included the work Study for the Path by Bill Viola. It changed hands for a price of USD 187,500.00 (€ 168,176.52) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Bill Viola - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Eternal Return, which sold at auction in October 2006 for GBP 377,600.00 (€ 564,168.04).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2019 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session durch, in der auch die Arbeit Study for the Path von Bill Viola zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 187.500,00 (€ 168.176,52) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 150.000,00 – 200.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Bill Viola mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Eternal Return beobachtet, die im Oktober 2006 für GBP 377.600,00 (€ 564.168,04) versteigert wurde.
