The work Icarus by Austin Lee was sold in the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale auction at Christies in New York in May last year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 20,160.00 (€ 18,786.69), 68% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Austin Lee - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Drowning, which sold at auction in November 2021 for USD 75,600.00 (€ 66,979.71).

Die Arbeit Icarus von Austin Lee wurde im Mai letzten Jahres in der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 20.160,00 (€ 18.786,69) und damit 68% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Austin Lee mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Drowning beobachtet, die im November 2021 für USD 75.600,00 (€ 66.979,71) versteigert wurde.
