Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Balcony by William Baziotes was sold in the Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction at Christies in New York in May 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 70,000.00 – 100,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 75,000.00 (€ 61,505.66) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Baziotes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Phantasm in November 2017 with an auction result of USD 1,332,500.00 (€ 1,119,936.12).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Balcony von William Baziotes wurde im Mai 2021 in der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 70.000,00 – 100.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 75.000,00 (€ 61.505,66) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Baziotes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Phantasm im November 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.332.500,00 (€ 1.119.936,12).
