Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Untitled (Circus Clowns) by William Baziotes was sold in the First Open | Online auction at Christies in New York in December 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 18,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 18,750.00 (€ 16,700.81) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Baziotes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Phantasm in November 2017 with an auction result of USD 1,332,500.00 (€ 1,119,936.12).

Die Arbeit Untitled (Circus Clowns) von William Baziotes wurde im Dezember 2019 in der Auktion First Open | Online bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 18.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 18.750,00 (€ 16.700,81) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
