In November this year Christies in New York held the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale, which included the work The Rare Horn-Hair Thought by Wangechi Mutu. The »bidding war« ended at USD 37,800.00 (€ 34,653.47), 51% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Wangechi Mutu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Little Thought for All Ya'll Who're Thinking of Beating Around the Bush in February 2008 with an auction result of GBP 204,500.00 (€ 267,477.97).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 51 % übertroffen
Im November diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Rare Horn-Hair Thought von Wangechi Mutu zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 37.800,00 (€ 34.653,47) und damit 51% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wangechi Mutu auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Little Thought for All Ya'll Who're Thinking of Beating Around the Bush im Februar 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 204.500,00 (€ 267.477,97).
