Auction result well in line with expectations
In March last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Curated, which included this untitled work by Wangechi Mutu. It changed hands for a price of USD 27,720.00 (€ 24,988.73) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wangechi Mutu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Little Thought for All Ya'll Who're Thinking of Beating Around the Bush in February 2008 with an auction result of GBP 204,500.00 (€ 267,477.97).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Curated durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Wangechi Mutu zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 27.720,00 (€ 24.988,73) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wangechi Mutu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Little Thought for All Ya'll Who're Thinking of Beating Around the Bush im Februar 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 204.500,00 (€ 267.477,97).
