In February 2012 Christies in London held the auction Impressionist / Modern Day Sale, which included the work Self-Portrait by Theo van Doesburg. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 121,250.00 (€ 144,775.71), 73% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Theo van Doesburg achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Contra-Composition Vii in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 4,184,000.00 (€ 3,110,086.97).

Im Februar 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion Impressionist / Modern Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Self-Portrait von Theo van Doesburg zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 121.250,00 (€ 144.775,71) und damit 73% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Theo van Doesburg erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Contra-Composition Vii im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.184.000,00 (€ 3.110.086,97).
