Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Kleurontwerp voor schoorsteenstuk by Theo van Doesburg was sold in the Impressionist & Modern Art Evening Sale Including Property from The Collection of Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass auction at Christies in New York in November 2017. The price achieved of USD 516,500.00 (€ 434,106.57) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 400,000.00 – 700,000.00. Admittedly, works by Theo van Doesburg have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Contra-Composition Vii in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 4,184,000.00 (€ 3,110,086.97).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Kleurontwerp voor schoorsteenstuk von Theo van Doesburg wurde im November 2017 in der Auktion Impressionist & Modern Art Evening Sale Including Property from The Collection of Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 516.500,00 (€ 434.106,57) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 400.000,00 – 700.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Theo van Doesburg auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Contra-Composition Vii im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.184.000,00 (€ 3.110.086,97).
