In April this year Phillips in New York held the auction Editions & Works on Paper, which included the work ART WORKS (Sidewalk Plaque maquette) by Stephen Kaltenbach. The »bidding war« ended at USD 1,524.00 (€ 1,380.43), 52% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Stephen Kaltenbach - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 9 x 9 foot cube hung under skylight, which sold at auction in September 2017 for USD 3,750.00 (€ 3,174.47).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 52 % übertroffen
Im April diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Editions & Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit ART WORKS (Sidewalk Plaque maquette) von Stephen Kaltenbach zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 1.524,00 (€ 1.380,43) und damit 52% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Stephen Kaltenbach mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit 9 x 9 foot cube hung under skylight beobachtet, die im September 2017 für USD 3.750,00 (€ 3.174,47) versteigert wurde.
