Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Simone Leigh achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in June 2020. In the Contemporary Art Day Auction auction, the work Providence sold for USD 237,500.00 (€ 211,468.26) - well above the upper estimate of USD 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Simone Leigh achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Stick in May this year with an auction result of USD 2,712,000.00 (€ 2,545,522.81).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Simone Leigh erzielte im Juni 2020 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction wurde die Arbeit Providence für USD 237.500,00 (€ 211.468,26) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 80.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Simone Leigh erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Stick im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.712.000,00 (€ 2.545.522,81).
