In June last year Christies in London held the auction 20th/21st Century: London Evening Sale, which included the work Untitled V (Anatomy of Architecture series) by Simone Leigh. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 724,500.00 (€ 841,662.91), 45% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Simone Leigh - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Stick, which sold at auction in May this year for USD 2,712,000.00 (€ 2,545,522.81).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 45 % übertroffen
Im Juni letzten Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion 20th/21st Century: London Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled V (Anatomy of Architecture series) von Simone Leigh zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 724.500,00 (€ 841.662,91) und damit 45% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Simone Leigh mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Stick beobachtet, die im Mai diesen Jahres für USD 2.712.000,00 (€ 2.545.522,81) versteigert wurde.
