In November 2017 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Day Auction, which included the work Overburdened With Significance by Simone Leigh. The »bidding war« ended at USD 43,750.00 (€ 36,770.89), 46% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Simone Leigh achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Stick in May this year with an auction result of USD 2,712,000.00 (€ 2,545,522.81).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 46 % übertroffen
Im November 2017 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Overburdened With Significance von Simone Leigh zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 36.770,89) und damit 46% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Simone Leigh erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Stick im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.712.000,00 (€ 2.545.522,81).
