Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2020 Phillips in New York held the auction 20th c. and Contemporary Art Day Sale - Afternoon Session, which included the work Quilt #19 (Rockstar) by Sanford Biggers. The »bidding war« ended at USD 47,880.00 (€ 39,149.63), 20% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sanford Biggers - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Banneker, which sold at auction in March last year for USD 138,600.00 (€ 124,943.66).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion 20th c. and Contemporary Art Day Sale - Afternoon Session durch, in der auch die Arbeit Quilt #19 (Rockstar) von Sanford Biggers zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 47.880,00 (€ 39.149,63) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Sanford Biggers mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Banneker beobachtet, die im März letzten Jahres für USD 138.600,00 (€ 124.943,66) versteigert wurde.
