Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Jugando Ullamaliztli by Ricardo Martínez was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 37,800.00 (€ 31,637.09). Admittedly, works by Ricardo Martínez have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Figura Yacente in May 2013 with an auction result of USD 257,000.00 (€ 197,874.96).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Jugando Ullamaliztli von Ricardo Martínez im November 2020 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 37.800,00 (€ 31.637,09) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ricardo Martínez auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Figura Yacente im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 257.000,00 (€ 197.874,96).
