Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Ricardo Martínez was auctioned at Christies in New York in February last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,000.00 (€ 4,454.74). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ricardo Martínez achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Figura Yacente in May 2013 with an auction result of USD 257,000.00 (€ 197,874.96).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Ricardo Martínez im Februar letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 5.000,00 (€ 4.454,74) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ricardo Martínez erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Figura Yacente im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 257.000,00 (€ 197.874,96).
