Description
Ralph Goings (1928-2016) Soho Sabrett signed, titled and dated 'SOHO Sabrett Goings 2006' (lower edge); signed and dated again 'RALPH GOINGS 2006' (on the reverse) watercolor on paper 12 1 ⁄ 4 x 16 1 ⁄ 4 in. (31.1 x 41.3 cm.) Painted in 2006.
Auction result well in line with expectations
In December last year Christies in New York held the auction First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art, which included the work Soho Sabrett by Ralph Goings. The price achieved of USD 12,600.00 (€ 11,777.90) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ralph Goings achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work "Hot Fudge Sundae Interior" in May 2014 with an auction result of SEK 3,100,000.00 (€ 339,772.73).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Soho Sabrett von Ralph Goings zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 12.600,00 (€ 11.777,90) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ralph Goings erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit "Hot Fudge Sundae Interior" im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von SEK 3.100.000,00 (€ 339.772,73).
