This artwork by Purvis Young achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in March last year. In the Editions & Works on Paper auction, the work Untitled (Paperboard Packaging) sold for USD 1,134.00 (€ 1,022.27) - well above the upper estimate of USD 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Purvis Young achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work People with Halos Above City, 1973 in January 2020 with an auction result of USD 43,750.00 (€ 39,439.29).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Purvis Young erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Phillips in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Editions & Works on Paper wurde die Arbeit Untitled (Paperboard Packaging) für USD 1.134,00 (€ 1.022,27) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 600,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Purvis Young erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit People with Halos Above City, 1973 im Januar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 39.439,29).
