Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Four Panel Construction) by Purvis Young was auctioned at Christies in New York in February last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,875.00 (€ 6,125.27). Admittedly, works by Purvis Young have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work People with Halos Above City, 1973 in January 2020 with an auction result of USD 43,750.00 (€ 39,439.29).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (Four Panel Construction) von Purvis Young im Februar letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 6.875,00 (€ 6.125,27) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Purvis Young auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit People with Halos Above City, 1973 im Januar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 39.439,29).
