This artwork by Purvis Young achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2021. In the Contemporary Art auction, the work without title sold for USD 5,040.00 (€ 4,291.92) - well above the upper estimate of USD 2,000.00. Admittedly, works by Purvis Young have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work People with Halos Above City, 1973 in January 2020 with an auction result of USD 43,750.00 (€ 39,439.29).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Purvis Young erzielte im März 2021 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art wurde diese Arbeit ohne Titel für USD 5.040,00 (€ 4.291,92) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 2.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Purvis Young auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit People with Halos Above City, 1973 im Januar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 39.439,29).
