Artwork auctioned at ten times the upper estimate price
When the work Flowers, Chairs, a Dog and Two Birds by Paul Wonner was auctioned at Phillips in New York in June 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 20,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than ten times as high at USD 201,600.00 (€ 170,155.30). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Paul Wonner; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Still Life With Cup sold at auction in May 2007 with the realized price of USD 324,000.00 (€ 240,838.47).
Kunstwerk zum Zehnfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Flowers, Chairs, a Dog and Two Birds von Paul Wonner im Juni 2021 bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 20.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 201.600,00 (€ 170.155,30) mehr als zehnmal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Paul Wonner; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Still Life With Cup im Mai 2007 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 324.000,00 (€ 240.838,47).
