Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Oluwole Omofemi achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May last year. In the Contemporary Day Auction auction, the work Metamorphosis I sold for USD 52,920.00 (€ 49,315.07) - well above the upper estimate of USD 18,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Oluwole Omofemi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Invader, which sold at auction in March last year for USD 189,000.00 (€ 170,377.72).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Oluwole Omofemi erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Day Auction wurde die Arbeit Metamorphosis I für USD 52.920,00 (€ 49.315,07) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 18.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Oluwole Omofemi mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Invader beobachtet, die im März letzten Jahres für USD 189.000,00 (€ 170.377,72) versteigert wurde.
