Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Mickalene Thomas could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in May last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Contemporary Day Auction auction, the work Do What Makes You Satisfied changed hands for USD 275,062.00 (€ 256,324.67) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 300,000.00 – 400,000.00. Admittedly, works by Mickalene Thomas have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Racquel Reclining Wearing Purple Jumpsuit in May 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,830,000.00 (€ 1,500,738.07).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Mickalene Thomas konnte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Contemporary Day Auction wechselte die Arbeit Do What Makes You Satisfied für USD 275.062,00 (€ 256.324,67) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 300.000,00 – 400.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mickalene Thomas auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Racquel Reclining Wearing Purple Jumpsuit im Mai 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.830.000,00 (€ 1.500.738,07).
