Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Portrait of Temika by Mickalene Thomas was auctioned at Christies in New York in March this year. Here, the upper estimate of USD 200,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 201,600.00 (€ 185,430.46). Admittedly, works by Mickalene Thomas have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Racquel Reclining Wearing Purple Jumpsuit in May 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,830,000.00 (€ 1,500,738.07).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Portrait of Temika von Mickalene Thomas kam im März diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 200.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 201.600,00 (€ 185.430,46) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mickalene Thomas auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Racquel Reclining Wearing Purple Jumpsuit im Mai 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.830.000,00 (€ 1.500.738,07).
