Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Manifold Atlas by Matthew Ritchie was auctioned at Phillips in New York in May 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 62,500.00 (€ 56,849.19) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Matthew Ritchie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Big Life oil and ink on canvas 88 x 154 in. (223.5 x 391.2 cm.) Executed in 2002. The Essential Diagrams 12 vinyl decals dimensions variable Executed in 2002. This work is number nine from an edition of twelve., which sold at auction in November 2007 for USD 289,000.00 (€ 196,759.26).
