This artwork by Martin Wong achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May last year. In the Contemporary Day Auction auction, the work Sunset Park Panoramic sold for USD 756,000.00 (€ 704,500.98) - well above the upper estimate of USD 400,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Martin Wong; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Quong Yuen Shing & Co. sold at auction in May last year with the realized price of USD 1,260,375.00 (€ 1,174,517.75).
