MARTIN WONG (1946-1999) Little Got Rained On acrylic on canvas, in artist's found frame framed: 20 1 ⁄ 2 x 26 in. (52.1 x 66 cm.) canvas: 16 x 21 in. (40.6 x 53.3 cm.) Painted in 1983.
Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Little Got Rained On by Martin Wong was sold in the First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art auction at Christies in New York in December last year. Here, the upper estimate of USD 80,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 81,900.00 (€ 76,556.37). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Martin Wong achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Quong Yuen Shing & Co. in May last year with an auction result of USD 1,260,375.00 (€ 1,174,517.75).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Little Got Rained On von Martin Wong wurde im Dezember letzten Jahres in der Auktion First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 80.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 81.900,00 (€ 76.556,37) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Martin Wong erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Quong Yuen Shing & Co. im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.260.375,00 (€ 1.174.517,75).
