Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2019 Phillips in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Woman in Curlers from The Valley by Larry Sultan. The price achieved of USD 11,875.00 (€ 10,645.45) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Larry Sultan - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work My Mother Posing for Me from Pictures of Home, which sold at auction in October 2016 for USD 35,000.00 (€ 31,928.48).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2019 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Woman in Curlers from The Valley von Larry Sultan zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 11.875,00 (€ 10.645,45) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Larry Sultan mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit My Mother Posing for Me from Pictures of Home beobachtet, die im Oktober 2016 für USD 35.000,00 (€ 31.928,48) versteigert wurde.
