In July 2020 Phillips in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Golf Trophy, from Pictures from Home by Larry Sultan. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,750.00 (€ 7,431.63), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Larry Sultan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work My Mother Posing for Me from Pictures of Home in October 2016 with an auction result of USD 35,000.00 (€ 31,928.48).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Juli 2020 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Golf Trophy, from Pictures from Home von Larry Sultan zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 8.750,00 (€ 7.431,63) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Larry Sultan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit My Mother Posing for Me from Pictures of Home im Oktober 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 35.000,00 (€ 31.928,48).
