- PROPERTY FROM THE ESTATE OF PUAN SRI ROSALIND YU-PING FOO | Rosalind Foo nee Wong was born in Canton, China, and grew up in Singapore. From 1930 to 1933, she studied fine arts at the Chelsea School of Art and the Slade School of Fine Arts in London. Courses taken at the Slade included European art history, drawing and painting, and stage and furniture design. Rosalind continued to pursue her interests in all these subjects throughout her long life. In 1939, Rosalind married Foo Yin Chiew of Ipoh whom she had met in Britain where he had been studying at Oxford and Middle Temple. Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price

When the work Calligraphy by Kang Youwei was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2009, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 40,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at HKD 225,000.00 (€ 19,357.74). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kang Youwei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy in May 2012 with an auction result of HKD 5,660,000.00 (€ 589,621.48).
