A top price for Kang Youwei
When the work Calligraphy by Kang Youwei was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2012, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 600,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than nine times as high at HKD 5,660,000.00 (€ 589,621.48). This high result makes Calligraphy the most expensive artwork by Kang Youwei that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis für Kang Youwei
Als die Arbeit Calligraphy von Kang Youwei im Mai 2012 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 600.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 5.660.000,00 (€ 589.621,48) mehr als neunmal so hoch. Dieses hohe Ergebnis macht Calligraphy zu dem teuersten Kunstwerk von Kang Youwei, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
