This artwork by Kang Youwei achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Cologne in May this year. In the Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings auction, the work Calligraphy sold for HKD 352,800.00 (€ 42,286.99) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 180,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kang Youwei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy in May 2012 with an auction result of HKD 5,660,000.00 (€ 589,621.48).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 96 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Kang Youwei erzielte im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in Köln einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings wurde die Arbeit Calligraphy für HKD 352.800,00 (€ 42.286,99) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 180.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kang Youwei erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Calligraphy im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 5.660.000,00 (€ 589.621,48).
