This artwork by Kang Youwei achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in August this year. In the Summer Reverie: Chinese Paintings Online auction, the work Five-character Calligraphic Couplet in Running Script sold for HKD 226,800.00 (€ 26,678.66) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kang Youwei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy in May 2012 with an auction result of HKD 5,660,000.00 (€ 589,621.48).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 89 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Kang Youwei erzielte im August diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Summer Reverie: Chinese Paintings Online wurde die Arbeit Five-character Calligraphic Couplet in Running Script für HKD 226.800,00 (€ 26.678,66) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 120.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kang Youwei erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Calligraphy im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 5.660.000,00 (€ 589.621,48).
