KANG YOUWEI (1858-1927) Seven-character Poem in Running Script Hanging scroll, ink on paper 133.5 x 62.5 cm. (52 1 ⁄ 2 x 24 5 ⁄ 8 in.) Inscribed and signed, with two seals of the artist Dated dingsi year (1917)
Auction result well in line with expectations
In February this year Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Dawn of Spring – Chinese Paintings Online, which included the work Seven-character Poem in Running Script by Kang Youwei. The price achieved of HKD 81,900.00 (€ 9,841.60) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 70,000.00 – 90,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kang Youwei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy in May 2012 with an auction result of HKD 5,660,000.00 (€ 589,621.48).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar diesen Jahres führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Dawn of Spring – Chinese Paintings Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Seven-character Poem in Running Script von Kang Youwei zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von HKD 81.900,00 (€ 9.841,60) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit HKD 70.000,00 – 90.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kang Youwei erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Calligraphy im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 5.660.000,00 (€ 589.621,48).
