This artwork by Julio Galán achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November last year. In the Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work El Hermano (The Eggplant Boy and the Santa Claus Girl) sold for USD 182,700.00 (€ 176,983.44) - well above the upper estimate of USD 80,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Julio Galán; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Silenzio sold at auction in September last year with the realized price of USD 201,600.00 (€ 206,071.76).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Julio Galán erzielte im November letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit El Hermano (The Eggplant Boy and the Santa Claus Girl) für USD 182.700,00 (€ 176.983,44) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 80.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Julio Galán; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Silenzio im September letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 201.600,00 (€ 206.071,76).
