In March 2011 Christies in New York held the auction First Open Post-War and Contemporary Art, which included the work Self-Portrait Infanta Maria Teresa Playing Madame de Sade II by Julie Heffernan. The result of USD 20,000.00 (€ 14,101.39) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Julie Heffernan - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Self Portrait As Arms And The Men, which sold at auction in May 2012 for USD 56,250.00 (€ 45,494.99).
