Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Barco Con Motor III by Juan Muñoz was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2002, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 9,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at USD 41,825.00 (€ 42,337.28). Admittedly, works by Juan Muñoz have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work without title in May this year with an auction result of USD 403,200.00 (€ 378,449.41).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Barco Con Motor III von Juan Muñoz im September 2002 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 9.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 41.825,00 (€ 42.337,28) mehr als viermal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Juan Muñoz auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit ohne Titel im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 403.200,00 (€ 378.449,41).
