Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Cumbre by Juan Genovés was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session auction at Phillips in New York in May 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 81,250.00 (€ 72,876.49) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Juan Genovés - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Columna I, which sold at auction in November last year for USD 151,200.00 (€ 146,469.05).
